When I was nine or ten, I accidentally ate a peanut M&M, thinking it was a regular M&M, and my life was ruined. It took me a while to recover. About seven or eight years later, I stopped having nightmares about the event, and I finally moved on.
When I started my bakery, having a nut-free environment was a no-brainer. My kitchen is already nut-free (at least if I’m not in there baking), and I want my customers to feel safe when they order cookies from my kitchen.
Nuts and nut butters have no place in my kitchen, mostly because I do not like how they taste, and how am I supposed to quality-control my cookies if I know I won’t like them? “What is the point of you having a husband, then?” you might ask. Well, he doesn’t like nuts in cookies, either.
The happy byproduct, of course, is that I can sell my cookies as completely nut-free, and I do not have to worry about moms or dads who might worry about nut allergies.
Surprisingly, our Chocolate Chip Cookies contain maple syrup, and so they have the slightest nutty flavor, without any actual nuts. They are delectable and gooey, with a unique flavor not often found in Chocolate Chip Cookies.
My cookies being nut-free is especially handy when customers want to buy cookies for a school event. Kids with nut allergies won’t feel left out, and they won’t be scared to try my cookies. Every box has a label indicating the allergens contained in each box.
Rest easy, when you order a Bear’s Dozen, you do not have to worry about nuts!
