About Bear’s Dozen Bakery
Like most history-altering breakthroughs, Bear’s Dozen Bakery was born of an accident. One day, an unsuspecting woman, who happened to be great at baking, stumbled upon a sleuth of bears (sleuth is a fancy word I just learned that means group of bears—I discovered this by Googling “What is a group of bears called?”).
Anyhoo.
The woman’s nickname happened to be Bear, so she knew exactly what to do. She pulled out her ever-full-of-homemade-cookies bag and gave the bears a dozen cookies. They seemed placated, but the biggest bear said, “We need one more, for a Bear’s Dozen.”
The woman’s life changed forever after this encounter. If she could tame a sleuth of bears with her homemade cookies, surely, she could convince humans to pay her for such delicious goodies. She didn’t even have to think of a name or business model. It was right there in front of her.

What Makes Bear's Dozen Special
Every cookie is baked fresh, nut free, and made by hand in my home kitchen. My chocolate chip cookies are mixed by hand and have a touch of maple syrup, which adds just the right amount of richness. The snickerdoodles are soft and chewy with the perfect cinnamon sugar flavor. My scones are tender and golden with a crumbly edge.
I bake everything with care, plenty of vanilla, and no shortcuts. And yes, my cookies tend to disappear fast. At parties, work events, and family gatherings, there are rarely leftovers. Honestly, it hurts my feelings a little if there are. Bears would never treat me that way.
Why "Bear's Dozen?"
“Bear” has been my nickname since I was little. My dad started calling me that and it stuck. When my husband and I were dreaming about a bakery, I had the idea of selling 13 cookies instead of 12. It just made sense to call it Bear’s Dozen.
I love bears in stories and on decorations. I have no interest in meeting one face to face.
Why I Started This Bakery
I have been baking since I could barely see over the kitchen counter, sneaking bites of cookie dough while helping my mom. Over the years, friends and coworkers started calling me the “dessert queen” because my cookies always disappeared first at parties and events.
One day I thought, if everyone loves these so much, why not make it official? Corporate life never felt right and baking has always been my true passion.

Bear’s Dozen is a licensed cottage bakery and 100 percent nut free. There are no peanuts or tree nuts in my kitchen. If you have allergies or just prefer to avoid nuts, you can order with confidence.
Pickup and Delivery
All cookies are baked to order and available for pickup in Garland, Texas. I also deliver to nearby cities. Delivery fees are based on distance.
